Developed by Instituto Kinam in Mexico City, Kinam® is a methodology of movement and mindfulness rooted in the worldview, wisdom, and practices of Anáhuac (ancient Mexico). It centers on ancient Toltec power postures and promotes balancing one’s body, mind, emotions, and vital energy.
The Kinam® methodology draws from other disciplines, such as functional movement, to guide practitioners through sequences that prepare the body and mind to assume Toltec power postures while also promoting strength, flexibility, and balance. Kinam® movement and mindfulness practices are oriented to the four cardinal directions. As such, classes include acknowledgment to the four cardinal directions and sacred elements of nature associated with each direction.
Kinam® breathes new life into ancient movement and mindfulness practices of the Americas. Kinam Chicago is proud to partner with Trickster Cultural Center in Schaumburg, IL, to offer Kinam® classes. Check our class schedule for more information on upcoming classes.
